Introduction

Before installing software on your computer or performing tasks that normally require elevated privileges, it's important to read this article.

All computers are delivered to users with basic tools installed such as Office 365, Google Chrome, 7-Zip, DC Reader and a few more, depending on the functions, users may need to install more applications. 

1. How can users install Software?

1.1 - From Software Center

The Software Center is a Software repository with more than 100 applications that allows one-click installations. All applications are approved by the IT team and can be installed by any user. Updates are installed every week automatically.

Note: If the application is available in the Software Center, it cannot be installed in any other way, even if it is downloaded from the official website.

Software Center is available from Start Menu in Microsoft Endpoint Manager Folder.

* Note for users in the Las Rozas Offices - Please disconnect Ethernet Cable and connect to Wifi to use the Software Center.

1.2 - And if the application is not available in the Software Center ?

Applications such as Microsoft Visual Studio or Microsoft SQL Server, as they have numerous workloads and customizations available at the time of installation, cannot be made available via Software Center.

In these cases, the installers must be downloaded from the Official Site or repositories of the Teams themselves, such as SharePoint sites. 

1.3 - I'm trying to install or Run an application and this window pops up

This window can appear for several reasons:

1.3.1 - The application or setup is Not Signed

If the Publisher is empty means application is not signed and for that reason CyberArk prevented the execution. You should check if the setup was downloaded from the Official website or if it is the latest version available.

If it is a reliable and authorized tool or a component used in any Cegid product, please fill in the justification and click OK. A ticket will be opened in GLPI and an IT technician will contact you who will help with the installation/execution.

1.3.2 - It is a new application and not yet added to the Whitelist.

If the application you are trying to install meets these requirements:

1 - Licensing - The Software must be free for Commercial Use or the Company has Licensing
2 - Maintenance / Updates - It is possible to add to the Software Center or have regular updates not dependent on legacy components.
3 - Redundancy - A tool with similar functionality cannot exist in the Software Center.
4 - The tool is not for individual use, it must be used by at least one team or one department.

Please fill in the justification and click OK. A ticket will be opened in GLPI and an IT technician will contact you who will help with the installation/execution.

If possible, the new application can be added to the Software Center.
